Which weight for what

Why alpaca instead of merino or cotton
Cotton absorbs moisture and holds it against your skin, and damp fabric pulls heat off your foot much faster than dry air — which is why cotton socks leave feet cold. Merino wicks well but varies by grade, and coarser merino is what makes people say wool itches. Baby alpaca wicks moisture, resists odor, and is fine enough to be comfortable directly on skin.
Care
Machine wash cold on gentle, lay flat to dry. Heat is what felts these fibers — keep them out of the dryer and a pair lasts years.
