Collection: Alpaca Socks
Real baby alpaca socks, sourced from family-run farms in the Peruvian highlands. If you've never worn alpaca wool socks before, here's what makes them different — and which pair is right for you.
Why alpaca socks feel different
- Naturally warm without the bulk — alpaca fiber has a hollow core that traps body heat, so a thin sock still runs warm.
- No wool itch — alpaca has little to no lanolin, the oil in sheep's wool that causes most "wool itch." That's why people who can't wear merino often can wear alpaca comfortably.
- Moisture-wicking — alpaca fiber pulls moisture away from skin, so feet stay drier on long days.
- Lightweight and durable — alpaca fiber is naturally strong, so socks hold their shape wash after wash.

Which alpaca socks should you get?
Everyday comfort, hiking on the trail, or something to layer under boots on cold mornings — our alpaca line covers crew, over-the-calf, and multi-packs so you can find the right weight and height for how you'll actually wear them. Heading into the woods this fall? Start with our guide to alpaca hunting socks, which covers boot fit, odor resistance and how to layer for a cold sit. If you want the warmest fiber we carry, compare it against yak cashmere.
Sizing and weight guides by fit: alpaca socks for men (US 5–13) and alpaca socks for women (US 6–14). Still deciding on a fiber? Read yak vs alpaca vs merino vs cotton, or how to judge an alpaca sock before you buy any brand.
Alpaca sock FAQs
Are alpaca socks warmer than regular socks?
Yes — the hollow structure of alpaca fiber traps more warmth relative to its weight than most conventional sock materials, so a thinner alpaca sock can feel as warm as a bulkier synthetic one.
Are alpaca socks itchy?
Generally no. Alpaca fiber has very little lanolin, the component in sheep's wool most responsible for itch, which is why people sensitive to wool often find alpaca comfortable.
How do you wash alpaca socks?
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry — high heat can felt the fibers over time.
Are alpaca socks good for hiking?
Yes — the moisture-wicking and warmth-to-weight properties make alpaca a strong natural-fiber choice for the trail.
Is there a difference between alpaca wool socks and baby alpaca socks?
"Baby alpaca" refers to the grade of the fiber, not the age of the animal — it is the finest, softest fleece an alpaca produces, and it is what we use. All of our alpaca wool socks are baby alpaca grade.
